Associated 12/24V Starter Circuit Tester - ASO-8540

Associated Equipment 12/24V Electronic Starter Circuit Tester allows hands-free operation while starting a vehicle to trouble-shoot electrical problems in an automotive starter system, enabling one technician to handle the job of two. The tester's innovative design monitors voltage drops across key connection points in the starter system, including from the battery to the starter, and, when the voltage drop rises to a level that impedes the operation of the system, the unit's LED’s inform the technician of where the problem lies. This unit also checks the ground connection to eliminate guesswork by indicating if you have a good connection to the points being monitored, and the battery voltage is tested before testing begins to verify that it is sufficient. This circuit tester monitors four connection points at one time, which expedites the testing process, and it holds the status of all poor connections until the 8540 is reset, allowing a technician to analyze the results. This unit also checks the ignition switch and wiring and will charge both positive- and negative-connected ignition switches. This unit operates off of the test battery so that no external battery is needed, and it will automatically switch to the 24-volt test setting if a battery voltage above 16 volts is detected. The 8540 tester also comes with standard-length plug-in leads, though an extra-long lead set (8542) is available for large trucks and off-road equipment. A 1-year "parts and labor" warranty is included for all components.
